Syllabus for the post of Sindh Sales Tax Officer
The breakdown of the test is as follows:
I. English: 20 MCQs
II. General Section: 80 MCQs
- Mathematics & Logic 20 MCQs
- Accounting 25 MCQs
- Economic 25 MCQs
- IT 10 MCQs

The curriculum for the Accounting and Economics includes the topics that are covered at the
bachelor level of studies. However, the depth of coverage is less than that of advanced level
focusing on introductory to the intermediate concepts. Topics include the definition of accounting,
usage of accounting information, principles, and concept, measuring and recording of business
transaction, adjusting entries, balance sheet, income statement, cashflow, accounting equation,
completing the accounting cycle, accounts receivables etc.
Similarly, in the economics the basic knowledge of the field is tested. This includes topics such as
understand the working of the economy, law of supply and demand, elasticity, factors of
production, perfect market and monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly, GDP,
unemployment & inflation, aggregate demand and supply, monetary and fiscal policy.
Lastly, the examination portion on the Mathematics, Logic and English gauges the skills of the
candidates with the benchmark skills required for the admission into graduate level studies.
Mathematical section will test the knowledge of fundamental mathematics and will be in line with
curriculum of SAT/GMAT. Logical section will assess the general competence, critical reasoning
and thought process of the candidate. English section will be based on SAT/GMAT pattern and will
assess the grammatical and vocabulary knowledge of the candidate. General Knowledge including
global business affairs will test the general knowledge of political and business affairs of the
candidates. Overall, the difficulty of the questions will be of standard aptitude test (SAT/GMAT)
